December 12, 2015

The Winter Solstice Festival or Dong Zhi (冬至) Festival is around the corner! During this festival, it is our tradition to have Tang Yuan (glutinous rice ball) that symbolizes family reunion. So, why not spend this meaningful festival together with your family or loved ones, learn and hands-on how to make tang yuan and many fun activities in Chinatown Food Street this 19th and 20th December 2015. This event is proudly brought to you by Chinatown Food Street and Chinatown Business Association.

I remembered in my childhood days I used to help my mum to make rice ball. Those delicious and unfilled tang yuan (pink and white) cooked in sweet ginger soup or red bean paste. Certainly, there are no restrictions to the type of soup and color of the rice ball. You can have rainbow rice ball if you like! Honestly, most of us buy frozen tang yuan from supermarkets because they are much more convenient and less time-consuming. We can't let this tradition dies off.

So, look out for the happening events we have for you! It is entirely open up to public! And is FREE.
